Adventurer’s Coffee Co. started with a bad cup of coffee, and a drive to do it better.

How it began

It was a dark and stormy day…

Not really.

It was just another morning at a boring, stressful corporate job, that we all worked at together. It was cold, and all we wanted was a good cup of coffee. A cup that doesn’t need cream and sugar, but doesn’t hurt from it’s addition. That was the last thing we got. What sat in our cups was stale, scorched, and just depressing. We decided right then and there that coffee should be enjoyed, celebrated, and above all else… delicious.

The very same day we purchased an air popcorn popper, and a pound of green coffee beans. We roasted them up, let them sit the recommended rest time, and started trying brews. It wasn’t the best, but it was better than what we’d had before. A decent cup of coffee was in our hands, and an idea in our heads.

Over the next couple of months it became more than an idea, it was steps toward reality. We knew we wanted to incorporate our pasts into it. We all grew up as gamers, nerds, and outdoorsy folks — a strange balance of all those things. We were rolling dice, playing video games, camping, and hiking since our parents deemed us old enough. Then we carried all those things into adulthood. Now we’re carrying those things into coffee.

Then the name came to us one day as we watched Bilbo Baggins run out of his Hobbit Hole. We knew it then, and we know it now. Just as he said “I’m going on an adventure!” We are too, and we want to take you along with us.
